Her business journey and how she arrived at the business ideas and started her own businesses

Accents and Statements  started with a passion for bling bling and eventually it all just became so natural to me; playing with different shapes and colours and studying about natural earth stones from different countries. Its such a pleasure when you can work with what you love.

Being a mum of 2 young kids, like other mums out there, I always want the best for them especially when it comes to food. The Jam Plan is a small home-brand business that focuses on healthy jams with real fruit, no preservatives, no pectin, and no artificial colouring.

What she finds most rewarding about having her own businesses

It gives me importance of being ME first before being a mum, wife, daughter, sister, daughter-in-law and friend. I feel in our generation we strive to make sure everyone else around us is happy and get what they need before our-self and we need to keep learning, re-innovating and making sure we are happy too! I feel that working helps me cope with the everyday changes in life.

How she approaches being a mum and an entrepreneur

I try and balance out family life, home life and work between my 5 days of the week. There are definitely days where a lot seems to be going on and my saving grace is my diary and a to-do list. I time out my schedules for every aspect of my week and make sure I stick to it. Although having 2 kids means a lot of unexpected surprises but there is always a solution! 🙂

The biggest challenges she has faced in her business
Question as to ‘how do you do it’? Everyone can do IT if you want to!
How she overcame those challenges

Be honest in your answers, be truthful as to what you are doing and why you are doing it. I don’t mean to justify what you do but just be honest as in the end – it makes you happy. Happiness needs no justification.

What do you celebrate as accomplishments in your business?

Just happiness at the end of the day, being fulfilled in every aspect in your life. We are mums, we are wives we are it all but we still need to learn to celebrate US more and this gives me the additional pleasure of a day’s work. Also it’s a ripple effect when you work – you seem to show your kids that mummy can do something she wants to do as well – something that teaches them the value of work, money and time.

Advice to mums considering entrepreneurship
Go for it – there are no boundaries as to what you may accomplish and it ain’t impossible.
